Matthew 28:18-20 – And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Jesus calls his followers to keep following his lead. Jesus calls them to follow God and to invite others to follow God with them. And then he reminds them that he will always be with them. At the heart of our life with God is this simple truth. We are not alone. God is always with us. Jesus will never leave us.

Like the first disciples of Jesus, we can still ask Jesus to help us understand his teaching. We can still cry out to Jesus when we feel confused, anxious, or overwhelmed. We can still ask Jesus to help us see what God is like. We can still ask Jesus what honors God’s power, love and presence in our lives.

For all of us at all times, and in all circumstances, we pursue our calling to love God, work together, and to honor God’s love for one another, especially our enemies, with the help of the Holy Spirit who comes alongside us and lives in us.

In John 14:15-17, John writes that Jesus promised to send them another comforter upon his departure. The Spirit of Truth that would be with them and in them. In John 15:12-15, John writes that Jesus said the Holy Spirit will lead them into all truth, which comes from the Father, through the Son.

As we look to Jesus and cry out to God, he reveals himself to us through his word and by his Holy Spirit. We confidently put our trust in God because the Holy Spirit is present in us, helping us bring glory to the Father, in all that we say and do.

Our lives depend upon the goodness and faithfulness of God. God is working in us and through us. We learn to trust what God wants to do with us as we allow God to express himself and love others through us. The more we act on our belief that God is with us, the more we will give ourselves to trusting what God wants to do with us.

Our faithful life in relationship with God and each other begins and ends with the fact that right now and forevermore God will always be with us. Jesus will never abandon us. The Holy Spirit will always be with us. God will always provide everything we need to do everything that he wants us to do. No matter what we face, we can trust God’s love for us. God will lead us and walk with us through every tragedy and triumph we experience in life. If we let him.

2. Meditate on God’s word throughout the day.

3. Get to know God in relationship with fellow followers of Jesus Christ.

4. Pray for God to use you to bless others in his name, and make room in your life to help others follow Christ as you follow Christ.
